TCU Recap
Full disclosure, I really did not get a chance to watch this game. I was able to catch parts of the 1st half and followed on the ESPN app for the remainder.
I do not think a full recap is in order as K-State was able to put this game away early. At first glance, it appeared to be a dominating performance. However, after reviewing the drive charts, if TCU capitalized on some red zone area opportunities, this game might have been a different story.
This game speaks to the frustration of the Chris Klieman era so far. K-State has proven they can have performances like this, yet they can never seem to do it consistently. Yes, TCU was not great, but either was Tech and it took a stringent series of events in order to win that game. The inconsistency K-State displays leaves fans craving for more.
By the Numbers
Rushing Yards- TCU: 156 K-State: 146
3rd Down Conversions- TCU 37.5% (6/16) K-State: 50% (6/12)
Turnovers- TCU:2 K-State: 1
Penalties- TCU: 6-45 K-State: 4-46
At first glance, these numbers do not tell a compelling story. However, the only number that actually matters is scoring defense and when you only give up 10 points you’re more than likely going to win. Props to the defense for stepping up and making the plays when they needed to.
Wrapping Up
These next 4 games are probably the most important of the Klieman era. I think going 3-1 over the next 4 is a reasonable expectation. K-State really needs to win a game they’re not expected to win this year. Ending the season on a good note and getting to 9 maybe 10 wins will be necessary for Klieman to maintain equity with the K-State community.
